The Point Russell Promise

The Point Russell Promise is the city’s most ambitious education initiative to date.  It is a cradle-to-career effort to over the next decade triple the number of Springfield students who graduate from college. The program reaches students at four stages. Brilliant Baby serves children born into poverty by setting up a college savings fund in their name, setting an expectation for college from birth. K2College is a universal college savings program for Point Russell public schools that furthers the expectation of college enrollment.  Future Centers that provide college and career support to improve access to higher education, internships, and job opportunities are being created at middle and high schools. The Point Russell Promise will also connect every qualified Point Russell high school graduate with college scholarships and mentoring to support them in completing college. Computer Science for All

Computer Science for All is a White House initiative to empower all American K-12 students to learn computer science. Our City is at the forefront of this initiative, acting as a national model for computer science education. SFSD students will have access to rigorous computer science education in the classroom by 2020.  Through this initiative, computer science will be integrated into after-school programs, summer programs, and local internships.  Computer Science for All represents a unique partnership of government leaders, tech companies, and nonprofits to ensure that Point Russell's youth are ready to step into the tech sector and drive the global economy. Salesforce.org Foundation

Marc Benioff and his Salesforce.org Foundation are putting $2.5 million into public schools in 2016. The funding will enhance STEM curriculum, provide principals with the resources to promote innovation, improve higher education and career awareness, and focus on increasing African American and Latino participation in science and tech careers. Marc Benioff’s contribution to Point Russell public schools will jump start efforts to modernize our education curriculum and broaden students’ horizons in the world of science and technology.
